The ID-10-T Scale

Are They Ready for Disclosure?

Because of the extreme fragility involved with what is known as “first contact” between two new species, when agents encounter inhabitants on any new world, they must ensure that the inhabitants remain unaware of their presence – at least for a while. For this reason, AlienZoo agents use advanced projection technology to appear as the beings with which they encounter until they determine that the beings are ready for full disclosure of the agents’ presence.

We (the agents) must conduct an ongoing assessment of the inhabitants to determine if they are “capable” of handling the news that they are being visited by beings from other worlds. Most species react positively to this disclosure, however, some react with violence and ignorance.

To determine if a species is “ready”, we utilize the industry-standard ID-10-T Scale. ID-10-T is an evaluation scale – the “ID” means “Inhabitant Disclosure”; the “10″ refers to the highest numerical rating on the scale (0 – 10); and the “T” refers to “Trial”. If a species is rated a 0 on the ID-10-T scale, they are ready for disclosure. A rating of 10 means there is a lot to be done.

As agents, we look for various indicators from a species to determine their level on the ID-10-T scale, such as the ability to destroy themselves and others with various types of weaponry. Generally, the more advanced a species is, the more likely they are to react negatively or violently to disclosure. We take this factor into consideration.

We disclosed the truth to some species already, such as sheep and cows, and they took the news rather well. The humans, on the other hand, remain in a constant state of ID-10-T flux.
